Commenti

  1. Good rankings, Giuseppe. What I'm surprised by is seeing Gosling and Grant so low, respectively, and on the flip side, Robbie and Nivola being so high (The latter is quite impressive, though). Nevertheless, we share the same winners for picture and direction, I think.

    1. I really liked Gosling, but for me his work in First Man does not come close to his performances in Drive, La La Land, The Nice Guys and especially Blade Runner 2049. It doesn't help that I was not crazy about First Man - an intelligent and beautifully made film that failed to engage me on an emotional level. It's a solid film with a couple of standout moments (the moon landing is amazing), but it didn't really stay with me. As for Grant, I think he is great and the best of the nominees but a little overpraised.

Nivola's performance moved me immensely. I think it's one of the most underrated performances of the year. And I loved Robbie: the film as a whole was not especially good, but I thought she gave a rather devastating depiction of Elizabeth I's physical decay as well as her conflicted feelings towards her cousin. She's not in the film much, but I thought she was far better than Ronan (who's good in an underwritten role). I kept waiting for her to pop up.

    2. Wow, no Bohemian Rhapsody for Best Teeth?

I kind of agree with you about Grant. Have you seen Leave No Trace, Support the Girls and Burning? (My 3 favs of the year).

    3. Oh, and what did you think of Kayli Carter in Private Life?

    4. The prosthetics of Bohemian Rhapsody were so bad... like seriously, what where they thinking?

No, sadly I haven't seen those three movies yet, though I will soon.

I liked Carter in Private Life. I think she's rather entertaining in an extremely tricky part, in that she manages to be over-the-top without being hammy (for the most part). Most importantly, she brings an actual complexity to the character instead of allowing it to be reduced to its quirks. It's a really good performance, though I have to admit I felt she did have a couple of iffy moments.

  2. Interesting to see A Simple Favor get a nod for costumes, though I agree they were extremely underrated. What did you make of the movie and thoughts on the cast?

    1. I actually enjoyed the movie and felt that, for the most part, it managed to mend comedy and suspense quite successfully. I think the second half is less effective then the first as it is a bit all over the place in terms of tone, but overall I found it to be a rather entertaining, albeit not necessarily great, film.

I found Kendrick to be very endearing in the role whereas I found Lively to be actually quite brilliant. She goes all in, and she's delightfully devilish. As for Goulding, there's not much to his role but he does well with what he has.

  3. I have long felt a special connection with Herbal Medicine. For one thing is natural, Charlie we went to the same small college in Southern California — Claremont Men’s College — though he dropped out and ultimately enrolled at the Julliard School of the Performing Arts in New York. Had he stayed at Claremont, he would have been a senior the year I started there; I have often kidded that I was the reason he left when he finds out I had herpes. So my life have been lonely like hell all day I couldn't bear the outbreak pain, Tasha then introduce me to Dr Itua who use his herbal medicine to cure her two weeks of drinking it. I place an order form him and he delivers to my post office then I picked it up and used for two weeks all my sore was healed completely no more outbreak I'm honestly telling you this man is a great man, I trust him and his herbal medicine so much I'm sharing this to show my appreciation also to let sick people know there is hope with Dr Itua Herbal Made Medicine.Dr Itua Contact Email.drituaherbalcenter@gmail.com,Whatsapp.+2348149277967

    1. Weisz is so phenomenal in The Favourite.

Kidman is amazing in Destroyer (I also think the movie is very good) and a very close runner-up.
